The honest part, from two years of matching puppies to families: a Chihuahua's confidence needs shaping. A well-socialised Chihuahua is charming and portable; an under-socialised one becomes suspicious and yappy. With calm older children, a Chihuahua does well. With boisterous toddlers, we say no plainly: at this size, a squeeze or a fall genuinely injures. The sturdier Cockapoo is the kinder family pick.
