Cockapoo Health: What We Check Before You Take One Home
Every Cockapoo goes home vet-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. The three things worth knowing about the cross, said plainly here rather than found on a forum at midnight: ear infections from the long Spaniel ears, patellar luxation (a kneecap issue common across small breeds), and inherited eye conditions carried on the Poodle side.
None of the three is a reason to avoid the breed. Ear infections are prevented by the weekly minute described above. Kneecaps are checked at the vet visit before the puppy leaves us, and again at the first-year booster. Eye conditions are the rarest of the three and show up early enough that an honest seller will tell you.
