Under the Animals and Birds (Licensing and Control of Cats and Dogs) Rules, the German Shepherd is a Specified dog. By law it must be leashed and securely fitted with a muzzle sufficient to prevent biting whenever it is in a public place, in addition to being microchipped and licensed. This applies to every Shepherd, however gentle, and the responsibility is the owner's.
We say this plainly because it changes daily life with the dog, and no honest page should bury it. It is not a judgement on your puppy; it is the condition of owning this breed in Singapore, and a well-socialised Shepherd wears a basket muzzle happily once introduced early and kindly. First, that intelligence is a responsibility: a Shepherd left bored and under-stimulated will invent its own work, and you will not enjoy the result. Second, early socialisation is not optional for this breed - a Shepherd that meets the world confidently as a puppy becomes a stable adult, and one that doesn't can become wary. Third, this is a dog for people who genuinely want to train and engage daily, not for a household that wants a dog to admire from the sofa.

Brush 3 to 4 times a week with a proper undercoat rake, daily during the twice-yearly coat blows, and accept that the hair becomes a household fact of life.
